ATHLETIC TRAINING EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Greenboro College Athletic Training Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and is designed for students pursuing certification by the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) as an athletic trainer.

Our program seeks to develop individuals that excel as students, as clinicians and as leaders in the athletic training profession and in the community.

Certified athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity.  As part of a complete health care team, the certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletics administrators, coaches and parents. Certified athletic trainers can be found almost anywhere people are physically active. More information about athletic training can be found at the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) website - www.nata.org

As a traditional four-year program, students progress through a series of pre-admission courses during their first year and six clinical education courses during the final three years of the program. Complete information about the academic program can be found by reading the Academic Catalog, the description of the clinical eduation program, and the Student Handbook.
